Week #3
So I am starting my 4th week here in Mexico. Holy Cow! It feels like I have lived here my entire life.
When I got here when someone told me they were on their 4th week at the MTC. I always said, Oh so you are fluent! Yeah, so I am happy to say that I am not fluent.
My days are pretty much the same. So there is not a ton new that happened this week, but I'll try to pick out a few important parts.
Basically our whole zone left and some of our cute friends left on Friday. So that made us so sad. They will be such good missionaries though. Chile is so lucky.
We had TRC for the first time this week, and we were scared, but it was good. We were expecting more of an investigator, but the lady came in and while talking told us her favorite pastime was reading the Book of Mormon. So we just shared a scripture and our testimonies with her. We shared Doctrine and Covenants 11:11-14. It is a really good one about the Holy Ghost. I would recommend reading it.
Oh I got a package this week. Thanks Mom! Im not starving now yay!
Also, we took an assessment in Spanish to see where we are and see how we improve from week 3 to week 6. I got 31 percent. So I'm glad to know that I know very little about this language. My teachers always tell me to say Spanish is easy though so... ESPANOL IS FACIL
I may not know tons of Spanish, but for some reason I can play every hymn in the hymn book. My branch president just likes to ask me to play random songs that I don't know, but its always fine. Blessings!!
We got 4 new hermanas in my zone. So yay! We aren't the only ones anymore. We get to meet them tonight.
Mexico City loves to party!! We got to listen to Despacito the other day. JB (Justin Bieber) is a little bit of a change from the MOTAB.
Now for the coolest thing that happened this week.... Elder Bednar!
Elder Bednar came to the CCM on Friday. It was so amazing, and I am very grateful to have been able to listen to an apostle of the Lord speak. He shared so many good things with us, but through his message I learned some things about myself. For me Spanish is really hard, and I often get frustrated when I forget words or can't fully express my thoughts and feelings. This has often frustrated me because I feel like it would be so much easier in English, and I would be able to share a message so much better. But through learning Spanish, and not feeling successful, I know without a doubt that when I teach, it is going to be through the Lord that any person is going to be converted. I know that because of God and the spirit people will be able to feel the importance of the message of the Gospel even in my very broken Spanish. God requires those who serve him to be humble and meek so that they are truly instruments in his hands. I do not love the CCM, but it has taught me a lot in just 3 weeks. This mission is truly helping me to humble myself and be patient with both myself and others. These 3 weeks have shown me that I CAN do hard things. We don't have to be perfect. Just good and be continually improving and trying to be better. One last things that Bednar said was that the gospel is BEING restored. This gospel and church is always growing and improving and becoming better and we should all be missionaries. This is the Lord's work, and no unhallowed hand can stop this work because IT IS TRUE!!
I love the gospel, and I am grateful for the opportunity that I have to share it!!
TE AMO!!!
