This past weekend were transfers, and my companion, Hermana
Uchytil, left me. The part about this mission that I really don’t love is all
of the goodbyes. But, . . . asi es la mision. My new companion is Hermana
Pelaez from Ecuador. She is really great. She doesn’t speak a lot of English,
so I guess my Spanish will get better. HOPEFULLY! But yeah! She is really sweet and I am
excited!
On Saturday, we also had a baptism . . . well kind of 2!!
1. Santiago! He is really great. Santiago has
family who are members and he is always really great about reading. Even though
he is only 11 years old. My favorite experience with him (besides his baptism)
was when we were getting permission from his mom to teach. She was making jokes
about how he could maybe go to the United states to have babies, and he taught
his mom about the law of chastity. It was an example to me that we should be
examples always to those around us. We don’t need to be afraid to share the
gospel!
2.
Julieta! Julieta is 8 years old, so she was
technically a ward baptism, but her parents were inactive so we had to teach
her all the lesson. So even though she isn’t technically our convert on paper,
she is in our hearts. Haha, she was so cute. When she bore her testimony she
told everyone that while she was being confirmed she was praying and asking
Heavenly Father if he was happy with her decision and she said, "no se como, pero yo escuche una voz quedijo, SI" (I don’t
know how, but I heard a voice that said YES!” Awe cute!! These cute little kids
are helping my testimony grow. I know that our Heavenly Father is so very
grateful when we keep his commandments and make good choices.
We had a zone P-day on Saturday and
we went to a member’s house (from the United States). We had a BBQ and played
volleyball! It kind of reminded me of a family party, and it was a lot of fun. We
also went to the beach and thought we would take pictures with all of our name
tags in the sand… Then all of a sudden a big wave came and we almost lost everyone’s,
but our zone leader saved them.
So yeah, that’s my week. Sorry there’s
not more. I miss my old companion, but I guess there’s not too much growth in
the comfort zone. I am excited to get to know my new companion.
Also, Happy Easter and Happy Birthday
Hayden! Haha!
Love,
Hermana Jacey Petersen
