Week #4

So on Friday I will have been gone on my mission for one whole month. Wow!! Just 17 more!

This week was pretty similar to every other week here. A lot of Spanish classes and teaching fake investigators.

Last wednesday night we met the new members of our zone. We ended up getting 6 new hermanas instead of just 4 which is super awesome. We were so excited. Also they are all so great and good additions to our zone. Also very nice because now we have double the amount of people in sacrament so less of a chance of me getting called randomly to speak. Also I bore my testimony in Spanish on sunday so go me.

Another fun story, for a minute I thought I had a concussion. I hit my head on my bed really hard and I have had a headache since Thursday, but no other signs so Im sure I'm fine. I also have a cold right now so I'm hoping my headache is just from the cold.

My watch broke, not really a huge deal, but it made me sad. My teacher told me if I gave it to him he will take it to Mexico and get it fixed. hahha. hopefully.

Hermana Lowe and I got to teach three lessons this weekend so that's cool. We lead zone class, relief society, and a meeting for all of the STLs. They all went well so that's good. It was overwhelming having three big lessons in three days,  but just good practice for my field i guess.

In our zone class we discussed one of my favorite chapters in the scriptures. D&C 50. It has so many good thoughts in there. My favorite scripture of all time is in there. It is verse 24. But what stood out to me the most this time as I read it was the first page. In verse 3 it says, And also Satan hath sought to decieve you, that he might overthrow you. Then in verse 5 it says, But blessed are they who are faithful and endure, whether in life or in death, for they shall inherit eternal life. Satan is good at what he does. I noticed him or things happening before my mission and it was frustrating. I think I had this idea that as a missionary it would be different. That Satan couldn't get me as much, but boy was I wrong. Satan is still very much here, working hard, in the CCM. I used to say it at home, and my mom reminded me of it in a letter. SATAN IS DUMB. He is dumb, and it is frustrating.  It is comforting to know that if we just remain faithful we will be good. If I am faithful I can learn Spanish. If I am faithful I can successfully teach a lesson. If i am faithful I will be okay.

I know this is true, and I am grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who doesn't ask for too much but blesses us immensly. I am grateful for Heavenly Father and his plan and for the knowledge that he loves me even though I make mistakes and I am not perfect.

A Returned Missionary from Peru Lima South came and talked with us, and I am so scared. I already miss America and roads and houses with floors and hot showers. But as scared as I am, I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the Lord and if Peru is where he needs me,  I am happy to go.

Also in our devotional on Tuesday we watched a section from Only A Stonecutter. And I got excited because I know JOHN ROWE MOYLE. Well I guess I dont know him, but he is a relative. So I have heard the story. Anyways... It was really awesome, and there is a quote that I really liked. It was.... "It's my calling and seldom do callings come at a conveniant time."
I agree with that and it is important to remember our callings are from God, and we are doing what is right even when it is hard.

This adventure that I am having is crazy, but I am glad I am here. I love the gospel and I'm glad that I can share it.

Te amo!

Love,
Hermana Jacey Petersen

  1. I love reading her letters, gives me a slightly different perspective of what they are going through, and sometimes different details! I'm so grateful they are both doing well and learning and growing so much. Thanks for sharing! -Deb Lowe
