Week 15
Hahahah, so first I just want to give a little shout out to my cute friend in Vina Del Mar Chile because I literally never know how to start these emails, and she said the exact same thing in one of her emails!! hahaha
But anyway.... Hello from Ica where it is hot and getting
hotter! If anyone is wondering I am getting a nice farmers tan. So that is
really awesome and really cute!
This week was actually pretty good. We have been busy and it
is definitely a lot better when we have things to do!
On Wednesday we did a Book of Mormon activity with our zone
where we contacted in a busy area with the Book of Mormon and with the Book of Mormon
pass along cards! I love the Book of Mormon and it’s a pretty cool book that
answers pretty difficult questions like how can I find happiness and peace, or
how can I become a better person? The Book of Mormon is basically Google for
questions of the soul!
On Thursday we had service with our zone and I love service!
I always have. Service has always helped me be happy because I don’t focus on
myself. I can’t think about me or my problems or how I am homesick or anything.
For our service we moved sand from one spot to another like 30 ft. down the
road. It didn’t make any sense, but we did it anyway. Also it was funny because
all the elders were shocked that I was doing it. They kept telling me I was
really strong or telling me to take a break. So thanks mom for teaching me when there is work it is just work that needs to get done. Also, my mom would
always say that she didn’t do a good job teaching her kids how to work. So mom I
HOPE you are happy to know that I was shoveling and carrying rocks and sand
while my companion and a bunch of the elders sat in the shade. I forgive you
for doubting me.
To end I will just share something I have been thinking
about. My companion always says Cree en Dios, or do you believe in God? She
will usually say it after something silly like I told her my friend was getting
her mission call and she asked where I thought she was going and I jokingly
said Peru Lima South and then told her I was kidding and that is how she
responded. Which by the way, congrats Cam on your call.... I still believe in God
even though you aren’t coming to South America!! But how awesome is that. God
is invested in the details of our lives even the silly things. I do believe in
God, and I am pretty good at praying for the big things like the Gift of Tongues
or safety for my family, but not always the little things. I am learning here
though that all of the little things matter too. If it is important to me, it
is important to my Heavenly Father. I can pray for help finding a scripture or
to get out of bed. I have started saying in all my prayers, please help me to
make it through 18 months! 18 months is not that long, but to me right now it feels
like forever! I know that God listens and answers prayers. He loves us so much
and I know that without a doubt!
Please know that I love this gospel, and am grateful for the
opportunity to share my testimony every day!
