Week 49 - 20!!!!

So, I am officially 20 years old, and that seems a little old to me!!! Don’t worry though, I ate LOTS of cake yesterday to celebrate!!

This week we were able to see a lot of miracles and it was really good! What an opportunity to have a front row seat watching the lord work miracles!!

We hadn’t found a lot of new friends to teach this week and honestly I was a little discouraged! I felt like we were doing all we were supposed to and we just weren’t finding anyone that would listen!! That same day we had a lesson and we taught a man who truly wanted to understand about Joseph Smith and the church!! He understood really well and I was so grateful to be able to see that he had a desire to gain a testimony! That same day we were walking on the street and an older lady asked us if we were the Mormons, and said we could visit her right then. She ended up being a member that hasn’t come to church is a long while but we were able to spend some time with her and talk to her and invite her to come back to church! I have a huge testimony that this is the work of the Lord! Not my job or the members or Joseph Smith or any other person on the earth. THIS IS THE WORK OF THE LORD!!!! HE changes lives!

We are focusing a lot on the doctrine of Christ in our mission right now!! Faith, repentance, baptism, the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end! Our mission president was teaching us about the path leading to our Heavenly Father. I also thought when it says straight and narrow path in the scriptures, it was talking about a path without curves or anything. THAT IS NOT THE CASE... this path is Strait.... without the GH.... (I also learned there are 2 ways to spell this word, I was unaware). Basically the word strait without the gh is something that connects two things together. Which is what the doctrine of Christ does. It is a way that connects us here in the earth living imperfect lives with our Father in Heaven. The path to return to the presence of god is not always DIRECT but it is EXACT!!! When we do those thing we are supposed to. When we focus on the doctrine we will be okay. We will end up where we want to be living with our loving Father in Heaven! There is only one way to return to the presence of God and it is not up to us to say how! Jesus Christ came here to do that. He came here because he loves us so much and he suffered so that we CAN have these blessings. I am so grateful for the atonement that I can learn and be better!

I love this gospel! I am grateful for the opportunity to share it!

Love Hermana Jacey Petersen
